Santo Domingo Contemporary Shell Thunderbird figure on 24 inch Heishi Necklace Thunderbirdman

Santo Domingo Birdman Kachina Necklace from the 1970s or 1980s. He's made with pieces of shell, soap stone, turquoise and jet. Looks like he is glued together and is pretty fragile but is a modern example of the Santo Domingo Indians using small pieces of scrap to make something that is completely unique. The Heishi necklace is really finely ground shells and stone, it even has a removable clasp.

Could be worn by a man or a woman. He is fragile so you would not want to hug anyone while wearing him.
